President Revokes President’s Rule in Manipur, Notification Issued
New Delhi, February 4, 2026: The President of India has formally revoked President’s Rule in the State of Manipur with effect from February 4, 2026, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The notification, published as S.O. 509(E), states that President Droupadi Murmu exercised her powers under clause (2) of Article 356 of the Constitution to withdraw the Proclamation that had been imposed on the state on February 13, 2025.
The revocation marks the end of the period during which Manipur was under President’s Rule. The proclamation was officially signed by the President and released for general information by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday.
